Blaze Claims Elderly Woman in Dallas

Investigators said an electrical short in the attic likely started the one-alarm fire.

DALLAS --

An elderly woman died in a fire in Dallas Friday.

Earlene Jones, 83, was inside a house on the 1500 block of Cape Cod Drive when it caught fire before 5 a.m. Friday. Dallas firefighters tried to save Jones but were unable to do so.

Jones was transported to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas where she was pronounced dead. The Dallas County Medical Examiner has not yet determined Jones' cause of death.

Investigators said an electrical short in the attic likely started the one-alarm fire.
