Richmond, Virginia Bravest Battle Two Alarm Blaze

Quint 1 arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke conditions on the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor attic.

As the tones sounded the alarm of a structure fire, Richmond's Bravest rose to the challenge.

Dispatched at 1111 hours on June 22 were Quints 1, 11, 8, 5, Rescue 1 and Battalion 1.

Quint 1 arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke conditions on the 2nd floor and the 3rd floor attic.

Firefighters removed a citizen from the top of front porch who was spraying the fire with a garden hose.

Command announced a 2nd alarm at 1129 hours. Dispatched : Quint 15, Engine 13 and Rescue 3.

At 1138 hours fire broke through the roof and the operation switched to defensive.

Exposures were on B and D sides with B exposure two feet, D exposure one foot. Exposures were protected by 1 3/4 handlines. No damage was reported to either building.

For the fire attack 1 3/4 lines were stretched to the second floor, then switched to ladder pipes at defensive.

The cause is under investigation.
