One person died, two were critically injured and seven suffered minor injuries in a Montgomery County apartment fire early Thursday morning.

Dozens of residents were also displaced in the fire at Town & Country Apartments, located on Arch Street in Norristown.

Uninjured residents stood outside the burning building early Thursday morning, with blankets wrapped around them and steam puffing from their mouths during a frigid morning.

Nearly two-thirds of the residents have been displaced. Authorities initially reported that no one suffered minor injuries, but later said an unidentified woman died in the blaze.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation. The Red Cross said it is assisting families who lost their homes.
