MONONGAHELA, Pa. --
An overnight fire in Washington County injured three people and forced several others to evacuate their homes Thursday.
The fire started at a duplex on West Main Street in Monongahela just after 1:30 a.m.
A total of 11 people were inside the residence including several children.
According to neighbors, one teenager had to jump 30 feet to escape the flames.
"I asked him as soon as I got down there if he was OK, and he responded, 'No,'" said neighbor Victor Benner. "I didn't know anybody was burnt until he got out of the building and we saw him. Most of his clothes were burned off him."
"It was a blazing inferno up on top," said neighbor Krystal Kuchera. "You could feel the heat from it."
According to 911 dispatchers, three people were injured. Helicopters flew two of the patients to Mercy Hospital and the West Penn Burn Center. The third victim was taken to Mon Valley Hospital.
The victims have not been identified and there is no word on their condition.
There is no word at this time on what caused the blaze. The fire marshal is investigating.
