Fire marshals continue to investigate what lead to a fire inside a Horizon City family's home early Monday morning.

Crews with Socorro and Horizon City volunteer fire departments rushed to a home on Colina Corona drive just before 1:00 a.m. Monday to find flames coming from a two-story home.

It took crews more than three hours to battle the blaze.

Five people were inside the home when one family member smelled something burning.

The family's 19-year-old daughter was allegedly in the bathroom taking off her make-up when she yelled that she could see smoke.

The family immediately grabbed their pets and evacuated the home.

Once the smoke started to settle, crews told KFOX that the fire appeared suspicous in nature.

A firefighter on the scene said two members of the family were arguing right before the fire was spotted.

Despite the investigation, family members tell KFOX that if there were more water hydrants in the area, their home could have been saved.

"I'm really dissapointed with this new neigh bor hood. I'm happy that it is quiet and the family is safe, but for safety of lives it is not really. No fire hydrants for the fire department to hook their hoses to. They had to go out of their way ... they could not reach," said Maria Ortiz, who lives in the home.

Damage is estimated at about $30,000, crews are still trying to pin down the exact cause of the fire.

No charges have been filed as of Monday morning.
