One Dead, Three Injured in Philadephia Blaze

Two of the victims were identified as the dead woman's son and grandson.

One person died and three others were rushed to local hospitals after a fire tore through a North Philadelphia home Monday morning.

Police said a woman died of smoke inhalation, noting that two of the other victims had special needs. They were taken to area hospitals and were both listed in serious condition.

The third victim's condition was not released.

Neighbors said the woman who died was known in the neighborhood as "Miss Shirley."

They said she was looking after her adult son and grandson. According to family member, both were limited either mentally or physically.

They along with another adult female were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Rescuers found all of the victims inside the row home.

Fire officials said the blaze was caused by non-permanent electrical wiring, or extension cords.

The fire commissioner said the entire place was warmed with space heaters

There were no working smoke detectors in the home.
