20,000 Tires Burn in Pennsylvania

A plant shop and former pizza parlor also were destroyed.

STONYCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. --

More than 20,000 tires burned in a five-alarm tire fire in Cambria County on Sunday morning.

Fire crews were called to Carmen's Tires in Stonycreek Township. Officials had to send in a backhoe to try to pull the burning tires apart.

In addition to the tire company, a plant shop and a former pizza place were destroyed.

At one point, a firefighter had to be rescued from the flames.

Authorities continued to investigate a cause Sunday.
