APOPKA, Fla. --
An Apopka firefighter who was seriously injured fighting a Wednesday morning blaze went through surgery in the afternoon. Family and friends were hoping for good news on his condition.
Two other firefighters injured battling the blaze were treated and released from area hospitals. The most seriously injured, John Rodgers, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The men were battling a house fire on Tanglewilde St. in Apopka. A partial roof collapse hurt the firefighters.
Investigators were on scene Wednesday evening trying to determine the cause of the fire but they believe it may have started with an electrical problem. The home's owner had called the fire department Tuesday night after smelling smoke. An electrician had worked on the 7,000 square foot home Wednesday morning before the blaze began.
Firefighters gathered at ORMC to wait and pray for their colleague.
