CHICAGO --

A retail clothing store in the South Side's Calumet Heights neighborhood was destroyed Monday night after the store's roof collapsed during an extra-alarm fire.

No people were injured in the blaze.

An extra-alarm blaze started about 5:40 p.m. at a Rainbow store, which is a clothing retailer, at 9052 S. Commercial Ave., Fire Media Affairs Cmdr. Will Knight said.

The fire "completely destroyed," the store, Knight said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire caused the store's roof to collapse, and according to Knight, an emergency alert was called to five firefighters battling the fire from the store's roof. The firefighters were able to get off the roof just before the roof collapsed.

A 3-11 alarm was called for the store, which is approximately 100 X 150 feet, Knight said.

As of 6:30 p.m. Monday firefighters continue to battle the blaze.
