OLATHE, Kan. --
A 30-year-old woman was killed in a duplex fire on Sunday morning.
Crews were called to a duplex in the 4400 block of Parkway just after 4 a.m. Sunday after receiving a 911 call from a someone who reported seeing fire near Glendale and Parkway.
Authorities said when crews arrived, smoke and flames were seen from the duplex. Crews immediately checked the home and found Jessica Woodhouse near a door in the back of the duplex. She was taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries, officials said.
Firefighters said Woodhouse's dog was also killed in the fire.
"Our hearts go out to the woman's family and friends," said Fire Chief George Bentley.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $120,000.
It's not known if the duplex had working smoke detectors.
