Officials in Volusia County evacuated some residents because of a 5-acre brush fire near Interstate 4 on Monday afternoon.

Authorities said around six residents near the intersection of Finland Drive and Archer Street were asked to leave their homes, WESH 2 News reported.

Officials said the fire burned along a dry lake bed, what was Trout Lake.

Several residents voluntarily left their homes.

Officials said they closed Saxon Boulevard at Finland Street because of the blaze.

The flames started right behind the Albertson's just off Saxon Boulevard at around 3:30 p.m.

Deltona, Orlando, Orange City, Division of Forestry and Seminole County firefighters kept the flames away from homes.

"I'm nervous. I'm scared. My animals are in there too, my cat," said homeowner Melody Davidson. "I just got to work when they called me. I came home, they didn't know if the house was on fire. They said it's real bad behind there; it didn't catch fire. And I was like, 'Oh, thank God.' My family got out, my mom, my daughter and my son."

No homes were touched by the flames, although firefighters said they will keep a close eye on the area. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
