Firefighters evacuated 70 people from a Farmers Branch motel overnight while they battled a four-alarm fire.
Crews were called to the two-story Best Western on Stemmons Freeway at about 1 a.m.
Andy Hively rushed to the burning building to make sure no one was inside.
"I heard an explosion and looked out my window and saw the two-story brick building on fire. I threw on my shoes, ran out here and started kicking in doors," said Hively.
No one was hurt in the fire.
Investigators are trying to figure out what started the fire.
