Low Water Pressure Challenges Pennsylvania Fire Crews

It took about 10 to 15 minutes to determine the problem and crews then brought in a tanker and their own pump.

A lack of water pressure at a Somerset County fire caused problems for crews battling the blaze.

The home on Bunker Hill Road was a complete loss.

The Central City fire chief said the reason for the poor water pressure is because of the elevated location. The water from the hydrant had to move up the incline and he said there wasn't enough pressure from a nearby water tower to give the water the push it needed.

He said it took about 10 to 15 minutes to determine the problem. Crews then brought in a tanker and their own pump.

The fire started at about 8 p.m. Thursday and is believed to have been caused by an overheated furnace in the basement, officials said.

The woman who lived in the home was not injured.
