BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. --
Two firefighters with the Boiling Springs City Volunteer Fire Department are accused of using Molotov cocktails to set fire to some woods near Woodhill Drive on Wednesday.
Andrew Hovis, 17, and Jeremy McDaniel, 18, were arrested by the Cleveland County Sheriffs Office.
Molotov cocktails, which are makeshift bombs made with glass bottles, flammable liquid and a wick, are considered weapons of mass destruction by authorities.
McDaniel is charged with felony possession of a weapon of mass destruction and misdemeanor open burning and setting fire to woods. Eyewitness News is working to find out Hovis charges.
The N.C. Division of Forest Resources banned all open burning earlier this week because of increasing drought conditions and recent accidental fires.
Boiling Springs firefighters were able to put out the blaze before anyone was hurt.
