Fire officials said the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak.

A man was critically injured Saturday when his Miami-Dade home exploded due to a natural gas leak, fire officials said. A woman in the house suffered what appeared to be minor injuries.

Firefighters were called to 4739 Northwest 24th Avenue about 8:30 p.m. for a report of an explosion, investigators said. They arrived to find the house engulfed and a man suffering severe burns, fire officials said.

The man and a woman who had been in the house were taken to Ryder Trauma Center, where the man was in critical condition Sunday morning, fire investigators said. The woman's condition was unknown, but fire officials said her injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Investigators said the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak, but they were still investigating what caused the leak.
