A jaws of life rescue tool is missing among other items

Caldwell County authorities are looking for thieves who ripped off the Chisholm Trail Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived at the station Wednesday and found thousands of dollars worth of equipment stolen.

The missing items include their jaws of life rescue tool, a large generator and an air compressor. Fire chief Blake Dorsett said the theft is a huge blow to the volunteer organization, which serves a 180-square-mile area. They'll have to borrow equipment from other fire companies to do their job.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office at (512) 398-6777
