STRONGSVILLE, Ohio --

A townhome exploded Wednesday afternoon on Springfield Circle Drive in Strongsville, causing a fire.

Firefighters were called to the scene about 12:15 p.m. for a gas leak. While waiting on a Columbia Gas crew to arrive to turn off the gas line, a townhome exploded.

Officials said another townhome had extensive damage and a third only had melted siding and smoke damage. A utility worker suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Officials said that gas and cable crews were working in the neighborhood at the time, and that a cut gas line could have led to the explosion.

Springfield Circle Drive is located off Prospect Street, which is north of Drake Road.
