Virginia Firefighters Conquer $200,000 Blaze

Carson (Co #3), Prince George (CO #1) and Petersburg Fire Department were dispatched to massive structure fire at 10700 block of Bland Ridge Ct. at 1410 hours on Friday,Feb 3.

Carson Fire Chief Steve Wilcox said the scene upon arrival was reported by Lt. David Irvin who was first on scene and marked on with heavy fire showing. Lt. David Irwin assumed initial command of the scene.

Wilcox said the fire attack was strictly defensive and that fire was blowing out of the front of the house.

Responding apparatus : Carson (main station) - Engine 310, Tanker 350, Carson (sub-station) - Engine 320, Light Duty Salvage Unit 385.

From Prince George Co #1- Engine 120, Emergency Response Unit 160 and Tanker 115.

From Petersburg Engine 5, and Engine 4. Engine 4 was first fire apparatus on scene. Petersburg Station 4 was located within a mile of fire scene.

Prince George Emergency Crew provided EMS support on scene.

Prince George Police, Petersburg Police, and Virginia State Police assisted.

The structure was a two story, wood frame construction, single family dwelling.

Carson Chief Steve Wilcox said the fire was completely under control in a little over an hour.

Two vehicles inside the garage were a total loss. Slight damage was done to a nearby residence as the siding began to melt from the intense structure fire,quick work from firefighters kept the damage minimal.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were alternated for minor rehab.

Initial damage estimates are at $200,000.

The cause is under investigation.
