Fire officials said it was a dramatic scene early Thursday at a west Baltimore rowhouse.

The fire was reported about 4:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Payson Street. The first units to arrive saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the home and a woman hanging out a second floor window.

Fire department spokesman Kevin Cartwright said the woman was rescued by ladder, a man jumped from a window, and a 14-year-old was found by firefighters inside. The teenager was unconcious, but rescuers restored a pulse before the teen was sent to a hospital.

Authorities said the 14-year-old boy and his father are hospitalized in critical condition. The mother's condition is said to be the least serious of the three family members.
