A 25-year-old firefighter with Burke County EMA was rushed to Medical College of Georgia after the tanker truck he was driving flipped and separated Tuesday.
Reginald Fryson was rounding a sharp curve when he lost control of the tanker. The vehicle flipped at least once before it broke apart, landing the 1,500 gallon tank and the truck's cab on different sides of the road.
Deputies found Fryson in the roadway but are unsure if he was ejected or if he collapsed after freeing himself from the wreckage.
Fryson, who joined the EMA in July 2006, was driving the tanker from the Story Mill station to the Sardis station when the accident occurred, EMA Chief Rusty Sanders said.
Tuesday evening, a spokesperson for MCG said Fryson was listed in critical condition.
