Cleveland Firefighters Rescue Two Men Trapped In A Fire

Oct. 20, 2005
Debris and boxes made the task difficult

Two people had to be rescued from their homes after becoming trapped in a fire early Thursday morning.

Cleveland arson investigators are at the scene of West 38th Street and Archwood Road trying to figure out what sparked the blaze that spread from one home to the other.

The two victims, one from each house, were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center just after midnight. Neighbors said a man named T.J. from the second home was in critical condition.

Firefighters said they had a tough time battling the flames because one home had a lot of debris and boxes stuffed with personal belongings.

They had to return to the fire scene for a second time at about 5:30 a.m. when a hot spot was reported on top of the first home.

There is no word on what started the fire.
