Fireman's Fund Insurance Company Announces Grants

Fire departments across America received thermal imaging cameras or funds for other equipment.

BALTIMORE - Eleven fire departments across America received thermal imaging cameras or funds for other equipment, the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company announced Thursday.

Those receiving thermal imaging cameras include Lincoln (Il.)ire Protection District, City of Henderson (N.C.) Fire Dept., Cresson (Pa.) Fire Dept., Rolling Oaks (Tx) Fire Dept., Crystal Fire Co. 1 (Pa.), Houston (MO) Rural Fire Association, Culler (WI) VFC, Saluda (SC) County Fire Service.

The Palmer Lake (CO) VFD received $2,650 for a new gas detector, while the Oolitic (IN) Volunteer Fire Co received $4,400 for new mounting equipment, and the Clay (KY) Fire and Rescue received $2,210 for an AED.

The grant program is a joint effort of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Fireman's Fund Insurance Company.

There were 1,249 proposals submitted, and only 11 were selected.
