Two empty southwest Houston townhomes went up in flames in a two-alarm fire Monday night, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Flames and smoke were seen shooting from one of the homes on West Bellfort Street at Checkerboard shortly before 11 p.m.
The fire then spread to a second home.
Additional firefighters were brought in to help.
Crews tried to make their way inside one of the homes to battle the blaze but were pulled out because the building was not stable.
Both homes were a total loss.
They were part of a row of homes scheduled for demolition.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
