A blind dog was rescued by Sacramento fire crews Tuesday after falling down an embankment near the Sacramento River at Discovery Park.

The 14-year-old border collie named Pearl belonged to a Redding couple that was headed home from a trip to Disneyland.

Authorities said a firefighter was secured to a harness and lowered to where the dog was stuck where he waited until a Sacramento Fire Department rescue boat arrived.

The dog was later placed in the boat and reunited with her family, which then continued on their way to Redding.
