HOUSTON --

A recalled pickup truck may have started a fire that severely damaged a northwest Harris County home early Monday, investigators told KPRC Local 2.

Family members discovered the fire at their home on Corcoran Drive near Mystic Cove at about 1 a.m.

"When I opened the garage door from inside the house, what I see was the truck on fire," homeowner Jose Zuno said.

Inside the garage was Zuno's 2001 Ford F-150, which was recalled in September 2005 because the speed control switch could cause a fire. Zuno said he purchased the pickup truck used.

Zuno suffered first- and second-degree burns on his left hand and wrist. His wife got their three children out of the home without injury.

The family's home sustained a significant amount of damage.

"Everything is pretty much gone," Zuno said.

The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office will determine the exact cause of the blaze.
