Firefighters said the blaze started when two electricians were working on appliances and an electrical panel caught fire.

Fire officials say three people were injured during a fire at a business on Westlake Drive in southwest Charlotte early Tuesday.

Firefighters said the blaze at Etimex USA Incorporated started when two electricians were working on appliances and an electrical panel caught fire. They said the blaze was intense for a few moments, burning the electricians. An employee also hurt his leg during the chaos.

Charlotte Fire Department Capt. Rob Brisley said the injuries to the two burn victims could be life-threatening.

All three men were transported to local hospitals.

The rest of the people inside the company that makes plastic moldings were evacuated and Duke Energy turned off the electricity to the building.

Firefighters stuck around to remove smoke from the facility after the flames were out. The company closed for the day.
