Connecticut Fire Chief's Home Raided

Jan. 30, 2007
The chief is on leave, but has said he won't quit.

NBC 30 learned what evidence police used to get a search warrant for South Killingly Fire Chief William Aucliars home.

The recent raid at Auclair's Dayville home capped off a year-and-a half-long investigation into the chief and his housemate, fellow firefighter Arthur Nason, according to court papers.

Troopers said they acted on tips that Auclair and Nason were involved in the illegal trafficking of cocaine in the Danielson area.

State police worked with a confidential informant who they said, on separate occasions, actually bought cocaine from Nason and Auclair inside their house on Slater Hill Road.

When troopers searched the home on Jan. 17, they reported finding cocaine, marijuana, a scale and $900 in cash.

Since Auclair's arrest, he's been on administrative leave from the South Killingly Volunteer Fire Department where he's held the top post for more than a decade.

The chief has refused requests for his resignation and said he's innocent until proven guilty.
