Fire units remained on scene overnight to keep an eye on the center.

El Paso firefighters are now on the scene at Sierra Medical Center in Central El Paso looking for signs of a fire in the rehabilitation center.

The call went out shortly before 7 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Medical Center Street and East Cliff.

Dispatchers told KFOX firefighters checked every floor of the building for smoke or flames.

The building ran on backup generator power after an electrical short for hours.

J.K. Renteria, with the El Paso Fire Department, said, "We have isolated the problem, which is a fuse, on the backside of the hospital in an underground vault. The electric company is trying to determine how they're going to repair the problem and if they're going to do it safely right now."

Dispatchers also told KFOX two fire units will remain on scene overnight to keep an eye on Sierra Medical Center.
