California Businesses Go Up In Flames

Firefighters attacked the fierce flames from above in four spots.

A building that housed two businesses in Santee is a total loss after a four-alarm fire, 10News reported.

The fire wiped out dozens of jobs from the National Copy Cartridge and Auto Vac Vacuum Services, which were located in the building. The building was located in Santee's Wheatland Industrial Park in the 9400 block of Abraham Way.

"There's not much I can say. All of my inventory -- we ship all over the United States," said Michael Powers, from Auto Vac Vacuum Services.

The New Frontier Mobile Home Park nearby was evacuated while at least four ladder trucks and dozens of firefighters on the ground worked to put out the flames.

Firefighters attacked the fierce flames from above in four spots. According to 10News, it was too dangerous to go inside the building to fight the fire.

Although they dumped water at a rate of 4,000 gallons a minute, it took at least three hours to get the flames under control.

According to 10News, firefighters had no choice but to let the building burn and do what they could to protect nearby homes.

"I woke up all my neighbors and I said, 'Look there's an inferno,'" said one resident of the New Frontier Mobile Home Park.

There is no word on what started the fire.
