Bronx, New York-- Residents were evacuated when an apartment building caught fire in the Fordham section of the Bronx, injuring 11 people.
Firefighters arrived to flames shooting out the third-floor windows of 2499 Grand Avenue at West 190th Street just after 1:30 a.m. Most of the fire was confined to one bedroom on the third floor.
Eyewitness News has learned several residents, including a young child, were evacuated from the smoky building on the fire escape.
Officials say six residents and five firefighters were taken to Montefiore Medical Center and Bronx Municipal Hospital. They all sustained minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
