New York, N.Y.-- A firefighter pulled an unconscious man from a blaze that swept through his West Side apartment yesterday.
The flames were confined to a top-floor studio in the five-story brownstone at 463 W. 57th St., an FDNY spokesman said.
Resident Peter Michalski, 27, said he had just returned to his first-floor apartment in the afternoon when "someone started ringing all the bells and screaming, 'Get out of the building.' "
His injured neighbor was taken to the burn unit at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
"He was beet-red," Michalski said. "He had burns all over his stomach."
