Texas Police Use Jaws Of Life To Free Car Crash Victim

The two other passengers were not seriously injured.

El Paso police said two cars collided early Wednesday morning around 2:15 a.m. It happened at North Mesa Street and Argonaut Drive.

The crash involved a white Chevrolet Cavalier holding three people and a Ford Mustang.

Emergency crews freed a man from the backseat of the Cavalier using the Jaws of Life. He is now at Thomason hospital with a possible spine fracture.

The two people in the front of the Cavalier were not seriously injured.

Mario Valdez saw the accident and told KFOX, "There was some yelling from the other car. I went to see what was going on and the front passengers were screaming. Blood was spurting out. I saw blood everywhere."

Traffic opened back up at Mesa and Argonaut shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the man driving the Mustang was cited for speeding, and is believed to have caused the crash.
