NASHUA, N.H. --
A motorcycle collided with a fire truck in Nashua on its way to a call on Thursday evening.
The Nashua fire engine was just feet from the Spit Brook Road fire station when the accident happened before 6 p.m.
Firefighters said that a fire captain immediately radioed for help, saying that a motorcycle had hit the truck.
The four firefighters on the engine jumped out and began helping the motorcycle rider.
"They immediately went into their emergency response role," said Nashua Fire Department Assistant Chief Keith Anderson.
Nashua police said that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
The fire department said that the emergency stop lights outside the station were working, and the fire engine had its siren and lights on.
As part of the investigation police are looking into whether solar glare may have played a role in the crash.
As of 11 p.m. police were not releasing the name of the crash victim or his condition. They did say that the motorcycle was not registered to the driver. The man had been transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The road remained closed as accident investigators reconstructed the scene.
Spit Brook Road was expected to open sometime before Friday morning.
