A woman was discovered alive after Delaware paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene of an accident Saturday morning.

Police officers heard the woman talking and found her alive in her wrecked car about an hour after emergency workers pronounced her dead.

Troopers called Kent County emergency crews back to the accident scene to extricate the woman from her car and take her to a hospital, where she was treated and released the next day.

According to state police, the crash occurred about 5:45 Saturday morning on State Route 1. A report indicated that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

A man driving south in a pickup truck stopped on the shoulder to make sure a boat trailer was properly secured to his vehicle.

While George Grissom, 49, was standing on the shoulder next to the trailer, a southbound Buick crossed onto the shoulder and struck him. Grissom was pushed under the boat and forced through the Buick
