Three houses were damaged in the fire Sunday.

Several firefighters were burned when a fire destroyed an abandoned house in Anderson.

Crews got the call just before 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

The fire on River Street was so intense that the heat damaged two homes nearby, officials said.

Three firefighters were treated for first and second-degree burns, and another was taken to a hospital for observation after he suffered a seizure and passed out.

It was unclear whether the seizure was related to the fire.

Crews were unable to find anyone in the house.

Anderson fire officials said the four injured firefighters will return to work this Thursday.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the fire and officials said they believe it was intentionally set.
