Virginia Firefighter Injured In House Fire

Firefighter suffered first- and second-degree burns while battling the blaze, according to authorities.

A volunteer firefighter is being treated for burn injuries suffered in a Monday morning fire.

Chris Hawks, 22, a volunteer in Hillsville, suffered first- and second-degree burns while battling the blaze, according to authorities.

The fire occurred at a house in Fancy Gap. Another firefighter pulled Hawks from the inside of the house.

Hawks was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
