A two-alarm blaze gutted a three-story building in Hartford on Saturday, forcing neighbors to evacuate.

It happened at about 8:30 p.m. on Lawrence Street in the Frog Hollow neighborhood.

The fire chief said the building was vacant and no injuries were reported.

The biggest concern was the building next door.

The fire was so smoky it triggered the fire alarm in the Hartford Civic Center, more than a mile away.

The cause is still under investigation.
