Five firefighters are stable after being shocked Monday morning responding to a fire in the Mantua section of Philadelphia.
Deputy Fire Commissioner Ernest Hargett said a ladder hit overhead wires.
"They were all on the ground, but they were all in close proximity or touching the truck at the time of the accident," Hargett said.
Hargett said the firefighters were conscious, alert and stable, but that they were being treated now at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Hargett said there are a lot of overhead wires in the city, and crews are trained to avoid them.
Crews were called out to the fire at 40th and Brown streets a little after 6 a.m. Monday morning. The fire went to three alarms before firefighters could bring it under control.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
