Firefighters believe the blaze started from an electrical short.

An 82-year-old man in a wheelchair was rescued from a burning home Friday night.

The fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. at East Tenth Street and Belmont Avenue. Three people were inside at the time, including Marvin Miller, who is in a wheelchair.

KMBC's Marcus Moore reported that two neighbors helped carry Miller out of the home.

"We ran downstairs and the fire was going nuts, so we grabbed the old man. He said, 'I don't want to go.' I said, 'You've got to go.' So we got him outside," rescuer Dale Crowder said.

"I'm just happy to be here," Miller said. "I'm so thankful to have so many people, kids and everything, and such nice neighbors."

No injuries were reported.
