Saturday was a busy day for fire rescue crews as hikers on two separate trails got into trouble.
Crews were called to the Waiamao Trail in Palolo Valley in the morning to help an injured teenager. The boy was swinging on a tree when he lost his grip and fell on his back, according to fire officials.
The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment, emergency crews said.
Just one minute after wrapping up that rescue, firefighters rushed to the Mau'u mae trail in Maunalani Heights.
A 40-year-old woman slipped and injured her ankle, hikers said.
Rescue crews say the trails have not been used much during the recent wet weather and may need maintenance.
"Be careful there's been a lot of rain the last few weeks. People haven't been on the trails," fire Capt. Keoni Kino said.
Fire crews said that while the hikers weren't experienced, they went on the trails prepared, carrying water, jackets and cellular phones.
