Georgia Chemical Plant Evacuated Due To Fire, Explosion

A caustic reaction occured

A Cobb County chemical plant has been evacuated due to a fire this afternoon.

The Lynx Chemical Plant on Oakdale Road has been evacuated. Nearby areas have not been evacuated at this time.

Officials say workers in a production unit were mixing chemicals and a caustic reaction occured. There was a minor explosion and a small vapor cloud.

Fire and police officials are on the scene. We have reports that a trained HazMat team is on location at all times.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
