Five-Alarm Fire Rips Through Queens

(New York -WABC, March 13, 2006) - A five alarm fire erupted in a strip of stores in the Jamaica section of Queens this morning. John Delgiorno is live in Newscopter 7. The fire burned through at least five stores at 89-28 Sutphin Boulevard. The fire quickly went a fifth-alarm as authorities attempted to get the flames under control. It was reported at about 11:45 a.m. Monday. Firefighters ran 10 hand lines into the burning building, and battled the blaze with three tower ladders, officials said. The fire tore through a 99 cent store, a pizza parlor and a large supermarket. Two minor injuries were reported.
