Firefighters said the blaze west of Royal Palm Boulevard off U.S. 27 is under control, but continues to burn.

Video from Chopper 6 showed heavy smoke and flames in the wooded area. No homes were in danger.

Officials said the fire has burned about 130 acres of land so far and the wind and dry conditions have made it difficult to contain.

Firefighters from the Division of Forestry and Broward County battled the blaze.

"The cause of the wildfire was a burning car. It started sometime early in the morning," said Fred Boehm, of the Division of Forestry.

The fire teams used an airplane to track the hot spots and to keep the fire crews on the ground away from danger.

No injuries have been reported.

Investigators said the car they believed contributed to the cause of the fire was a red Mustang registered to an owner in Coral Gables. They said no police report had been filed reporting the car as stolen.

"It's bad enough that just natural fires or accidents or things that happen without anything intentional happening," said Scott Peterich, of the Division of Forestry. "In this case, there was one mobile home in the area that we made sure was secure and safe, but you know, it endangers our personnel. They're out there in a wildfire situation, and the winds change."

Police are looking for the car's owner and investigators are trying to determine how the car got there.
