Two of three Baltimore City firefighters who came under fire for alleged misconduct are expected back at work on Thursday.
The firefighters were suspended after allegations of improper behavior at Engine Company 46 in northwest Baltimore. An investigation began after an anonymous caller phoned a battalion chief at the station Sunday night and said there was a woman inside after the 10 p.m. curfew. The caller also said some firefighters might have been drinking.
Fire union officials said that wasn't really the case.
"There may have been a woman in the station after hours which is against the rules," said Rick Schluderberg. "But there was no alcohol or partying or sexual contact."
As part of a preliminary investigation, the entire night staff was drug and alcohol tested. No names have been released, but all the subjects tested clean for alcohol.
One person did test positive for a controlled substance. That person said it was a prescription drug, but he'll have to wait an extra five to six days for more tests before any decision about allowing him back to work is made.
