The father of a child left home alone and injured in an apartment fire was arrested, officials told KPRC Local 2.
The fire broke out at the Westfield Apartments at 14405 Rio Bonito Road near Presido Square Boulevard at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Firefighters from the Community Volunteer Fire Department found a 3-year-old boy in a back bedroom of the apartment that was on fire.
The child was breathing but unresponsive. Life Flight took him to Memorial Hermann Hospital. His condition was not released.
Officials said the child's father told them he left the apartment unit to make a phone call.
Officials have not said what charges will be filed against the father.
Firefighters said a couch caught fire. It is not known if the fire started before or after the father left the apartment.
