Firefighters evacuated all 250 residents of the 21-story building

Residents living in a downtown Dallas high-rise apartment woke up to a building full of smoke overnight Sunday.

The three-alarm fire broke out in the recently remodeled Davis Building on the 1300 block of Main Street at about midnight.

Firefighters evacuated all 250 residents of the 21-story building.

"When I opened the door and the room was full of smoke, I knew it was time to get out of there," said resident Bill Gilliland.

Investigators said an electrical short in a third-floor utility room sparked the fire.

There were no injuries reported in the fire.
