The blaze destroyed two homes, and also left two residents hurt.

Four people were injured, including two firefighters, during a house fire on Indianapolis' south side Saturday afternoon.

The blaze destroyed two homes in the 500 block of Bacon Street. Two people who lived in the homes were taken to Saint Francis Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition Saturday evening.

One of the firefighters was taken to Methodist Hospital, where he was listed in good condition. The other firefighter was treated at the scene.

"The garage may have had flammable material, such as paint thinner, paint, lacquer material," said Indianapolis fire Capt. Gregg Harris. "The gentleman that lived here repaired furniture, so those things were in the garage, and that would contribute to the volume that we had."

The blaze caused damage estimated at $145,000 to three homes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
