Charlotte Firefighters Feeling Fuel Costs

May 4, 2006
They had hoped to purchase a thermal imaging camera for every engine, but soaring fuel costs may delay that.

Because of the rise in gas prices, money set aside to cover the cost of new cameras, now isn't enough.

Battalion Chief Rich Granger says the cameras help firefighters locate potential victims and can help save lives.

To compensate, the department will have to dip into money set aside for operating costs.
