Pond Water Used To Fight North Carolina Fire

May 1, 2006
There were no hydrants nearby

The fire broke out on the 3800 block of Daugherty Road in Rowan County. That's off of Highway 152 near Interstate 85.

The fire destroyed the Davis Mill Construction and Supply.

The owner's son heard a crackling noise and saw flames coming from the building that houses all the equipment and wood.

Family members watched as eight fire departments worked to put out the fire.

Because there were no hydrants nearby, firefighters had to pull water from a pond nearby.

No one was injured.
