Windy weather made it difficult for firefighters in Harrisburg battling two fires Saturday night.
The first blaze began at about 7 p.m. Saturday at a duplex in the 1600 block of Derry Street. That fire also damaged the firewall of a neighboring home.
"We were severely hampered by high winds," said Deputy Chief Dan Soulier. "That helped spread the fire rather quickly on us."
Damage is estimated at $30,000. A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause.
Meanwhile, a second fire broke out in the 2400 block of Jefferson Street at about 9:15 p.m.
Four row-homes were damaged in the blaze. The Red Cross is assisting several people whose homes were damaged.
"Winds really, really increased the spread of this fire," said Sr. Deputy Chief Tim Sevison.
Damage is estimated at more than $100,000. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
